German term (edited):
Berge und Tal Kuchen

Up and Down Cake or Prophet Cake
As there are many names for this cake dating back to at least the 18th century in Thuringia, you can choose how to translate it.

Berg-und-Tal-Kuchen (uphill and down dale cake)
I would leave the name of the cake in German and offer an explanation in English in brackets. The translation should highlight the unique appearance of this cake - hence the 'uphill and down dale', but there are numerous other ways you could describe it.
I had also toyed with the idea of a "swings and roundabouts cake" - as this cake also has its ups and downs ;-)

...also known as Hügelkuchen or Prophetenkuchen. It resembles an undulating landscape - several recipes if you google these names!

: Auch wenn es im Internet häufig falsch geschrieben wird: Korrekt muss es "Berg-und-Tal-Kuchen" heißen.
