Berg-und-Tal-Kuchen (uphill and down dale cake)

I would leave the name of the cake in German and offer an explanation in English in brackets. The translation should highlight the unique appearance of this cake - hence the 'uphill and down dale', but there are numerous other ways you could describe it.

I had also toyed with the idea of a "swings and roundabouts cake" - as this cake also has its ups and downs ;-)
