I need help with these two short phrases: "clearance" and "to reduce" in this context.
The text refers to a residential burning permit and gives specifications as to where, what/what not and how to burn. Thanks a lot!
Where can I burn?
Open burning must be al least 50 feet from buildings and/or combustible materials.
EXCEPTIONS: ****Clearances from structures and other combustibles may be reduced as follows****:
Not less than 15 feet when burning is conducted in an approved burn barrel.
Not less than 25 feet when pile size is 3 feet or less in diameter and 2 feet or less in height.
(NEVER LEAVE YOUR FIRE UNATTENDED)
