German to English Medical Medical (general)
Patient with liver cirrhosis.

Abdominal ultrasound:
"Sehr geringe Aszitesbildung perihepatisch sowie perisplenisch sowie marginal interenterisch."

What is the exact meaning of "marginal" here? trace-amount (volume) or marginal (location)?

So far I have: "Trace perihepatic, perisplenic and interenteric ascites."

It just means that... there is a very small/insignificant (as Ramey said) amount/trace only of ascites found between the loops of the (small) intestine on the aforementioned ultrasound exam...

There is... no significant difference between 'sehr gering' and 'marginal' here. It may be 'geringfügig' instead of 'sehr gering' but the difference as related to the meaning is in the end 'marginal' so to speak...;-)
