Does this mean as if you're going somewhere with a lot of trouble? Or somewhere with a lot of security?

In this scene all the people fleeing are squashed in a bus.

...وعرق الرجال كاد يخنق المكان وصعوبة تنفس الأطفال تشعركن كأنكن ذاهبات لفرع فلسطين...
