Solutions of each of the cryoprotective polymers which are effective in monocytes undergo а limiting glass transition (Т’S) at ~ -20°С, while polymers which are not cryoprotective have а Т’S above or below this.
А limiting glass transition is defined as а glass transition in an aqueous solution which is in equilibrium with ice at the glass transition temperature, having been formed by the removal of Н20 from the solution by the growth of ice crystals alone.
