Illegal takeover of a company

"Завладение" лучше всего перевести как "Takeover", но "Takeover" может означать как незаконное, так и законное овладение компанией (ссылка ниже), поэтому считаю необходимым использовать термин "Illegal takeover".

misappropriation, unlawful appropriation

Misappropriation, unlawful appropriation =

Raid, takeover, hostile takeover =

neutral Boris Shapiro : I very much doubt one can 'misappropriate' a company.

fraudulent company takeover

In April 2009, members of the Vulcan Shareholder Rights Protection Committee ( www.vulcancommittee.com ), including Munson and others, filed a formal complaint in the Oregon Circuit Court addressing what shareholders believe to be the fraudulent takeover of Vulcan by Denham Capital and Bank of America Merrill Lynch. An article published in the September 2009 edition of The Deal, titled The Old Switcheroo, summarizes the origins of the dispute with Denham Capital and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Shareholder representatives will vocalize their anger with the current management team's recent decisions affecting the long-term viability of Vulcan Power.

Recent actions made by Vulcan leadership include:

Removal of Munson as Vulcan CEO and president;
Dilution of original shareholder interest by issuing select new members of company management approximately 10 million shares of stock at an average of approximately $1.70 a share, less than 25 percent of the real value of the stock at its date of issuance;
Failure to inform shareholders that nearly $48 million of a recent $108 million transaction of common and preferred stock will be used to repay a high-interest loan approved by Denham and Bank of America Merrill Lynch to Vulcan Power

Also he called on the government which believes in the rule of law, to reverse the fraudulent takeover of IB PLC and return it to its board, management and shareholders. “Even with the deliberate damage being done to the banks and their stock prices on a daily basis, if we are given six to nine months, the banks will be restructured to normal, favourable and fair positions,” he pleaded.

The Spanish authorities are also reported to be investigating an allegedly fraudulent takeover attempt by Vimpelcom of the ZED+ group, which produces games and other data applications for mobile telephones. ZED+ had been controlled by Javier Pérez Dolset (centre) until an insolvency administrator, Peter Wakkie (right), was appointed by a Dutch court.

Thank you, DT SM.
agree Deborah Hoffman : I would be tempted toward this...you have to have something like ‘fraudulent’ in there because other forms of takeover aren’t illegal, just extremely unpleasant. Or maybe even ‘fraudulent acquisition of ownership.’

to take ownership of it

This is just to take ownership of it. It is clear from the context that what they are doing is illegal.
there is a group of people who were involved in documents falsification and submitting them for taking ownership of it (gaining possession of it) through an illegal change of company management.

Fraud and falsification.

More clear:
there is a group of people who were involved in documents falsification and submitting them for taking ownership of the company (gaining possession of the company) through an illegal change of company (its) management.
