Swedish term or phrase: bondbänk
In an 1812 estate inventory from Sweden, the household furnishings included 1 "bondbänk." Is this simply a rustic "peasant bench" or is there a more precise and specific meaning of the word?

Explanation:
Why not keep it simple... 'peasant bench' says absolutely nothing to me (only 500 hits...).

peasant pew

Explanation:
Considering the reference to the guy entering church and sitting down in a bondbänk, I wonder if it is perhaps a bench in the style of a church pew, but of the simple kind, at the back of the church, intended for the peasantry, rather than more elaborate pews for the gentry further forward?
