Persian (Farsi) term or phrase: پشم و پیلی
I am sorry dear the moderator for crossing the red line. I really thought that the phrase formed an idiom but perhaps I'm mistaken. Anyway, the context for this term is this:
اگرچه از جلال و جبروت افتاده بود و پشم پیلی اش ریخته
I translated it as: he lost but all of his glory. So the second part پشم و پیلی اش ریخته is the one I found baffling. Is there an idiom in English matching this one?

Thank you all,
Sima

-> ترجمه ایشون ترجمه عبارت اگرچه از جلال و جبروت افتاده بود هست. من این معادل را از فرهنگ آریان پور گرفتم که برای پشم کسی ریختن بکار رفته است .

Asker: Thank you Bahram. Your answer could be used for cases where passivity is the point; but in my story, it's the loss of power that is the issue.

neutral  Masoud Kakouli Varnousfaderani: I think that because the Persian phrase is an idiom, it is not a bad idea to replace this idiom with an equivalent idiom in English provided that such an idiom exists in English

-> I agree...but that is the problem...we don't have such an idiom...I went through every word in thesaurus.com related to this
