I personally think attitude does work here in English, rock n roll attitude, but dont think its necessary to keep it either @David - cant quite explain why living doesnt work - ok, an attitude cant live and most of the time "living" means "lebendig" (except when it means Wohn-/Unterhalt etc.) - alive - living history is making history come to life so that it can be experienced, the German "gelebte Geschichte" concentrates on the able to be experienced bit rather than the alive bit. You could say I was living my dream in NY, i.e as a verb it works - but NY was my living dream doesnt - i.e as an adjective it doesnt work. Gelebte Glaube - living every day according to your faith, practising your faith in every day life - gelebte has the sense of practising, experiencing, living through, living out in real life (practising what you preach!) - not just theory, living doesnt have this meaning!

there are quite a few examples of kanalisiert + dative so I dont think its a mistake as such - maybe the difference is: something that is continually being channelled into something versus something that is taken, channelled, (condensed/gathered together/processed/converges/) and made into/becomes something else (i.e. here - the result is true rock n roll attitude) if that makes sense to anyone other than me! Dont think it makes that much difference to the translation in this context - and btw not suggesting any of those very un-rock n roll verbs for this sentence, just my understanding of why the dative is used!

in gelebter Attitüde - feminine noun in Dative case I don't understand why we are getting all these variations on 'channelled/exploding/erupting into', unless there is a general consensus that the piece is grammatically flawed.
the question of how you live an attitude is actually a fair point, Ramey, and I do concede that there is a slight difference between attitude and Attitüde. but the attitude here does not refer to their rage, but to the things that constitute rock n roll (whatever those may be) and that they are living, doesn't it? and with attitude being the widely-and-strongly-connotated word it is, I still think it's a viable option, but entirely up to how word-by-word alan wants to be. compressed, however, sounds very technical.

The meaning is more ore less "to live the rock 'n' roll lifestyle"! So I guess living (out) the rock n roll lifestyle is a good idea. I like feisty+attitude, too.

Like I said before, how to you live an attitude? And attitude in German is a nuance different than attitude in English, It just doesn't make much sense. The musicians ARE their rage when they play their music - at least that's what the ST infers.

intense, tangible, real, genuine, true, honest-to-goodness, unvarnished, undistorted (nice play on rock guitar sounds), unadulterated Rock n' Roll reality.
even though I am not sure why living should not be used here, I do admit that one does not need to be too literal in this kind of environment. but I can't get rid of the feeling that the original text says "gelebt" for a reason. so it's basicallyma decision about how literal YOU want to be?!

Besides how do you live an attitude? The ST is about as vacuous as it gets. And sorry, Lis, but I would completely avoid "channeled into", there's just too much esoteric/psychological coloring to it. "Compressed rage blasted into authentic Rock n' Roll." I think you could do without the "Attitude" completely.
I think feisty is a good one. As others have said, using lived or living makes no sense. You don't have to be so literal with band bios / press releases.
I rather like: - R&R as a way of life - live and breathe R&R

I wouldnt use either - lived or living - doesnt make any sense to me at all. The only example of "living rock n roll attitude" from google is from someone who can hardly speak English. Maybe something like real, genuine, true, real life (at a push), or change it to... living (out) the rock n roll...lifestyle...dream... or just leave it out.
not sure if you would need the attitude in English If you want it though then channelled into a feisty / vibrant rock 'n' roll attitude
