Dutch term

veranderkundig

Dutch to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
Met ******* wordt in een korte tijd een diagnose gesteld van de gezondheid van een onderneming, zowel bedrijfskundig als veranderkundig.
VERANDERKUNDIG - I'm looking for a concise translation if it exists - management of change sounds a bit clumsy as certainly does change management.

in terms of change

zowel bedrijfskundig als veranderkundig = in terms of management and change

PS: Change is big business in business. I wouldn't have too many scruples about using 'management of change' or even 'change management' either. In 'Total Quality Management' [John S. Oakland, ISBN 0 89397 386 6] there's a whole chapter devoted to and titled 'Implementation of TQM and the management of change'. The 'International Dict. of Management' [Johannsen/Page] has an entry for 'change agent', defined as: third person, acting as a catalyst, who assists in the achievement of the smooth introduction and implementation of change'.

a little more literally: zowel bedrijfskundig als veranderkundig = in terms of management as well as change
Peer comment(s):

agree writeaway : 'management of change', 'change management', also good options.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I feel more secure in using "management of change" now, and I need to find a clear term for this function as it crops up time and agin in the text. Many thanks to you and everyone else for helping! "

Dutch term (edited): zowel bedrijfskundig als veranderkundig

both from a management perspective and the need for any change

rephrasing may well be needed to get the idea across
Peer comment(s):

agree Alexander Schleber (X) : good rendering!

thanks :-)
agree Chris Hopley : Yup, "need for change" is def. the way to go here. The Dutch is very wordy. I would be inclined to rephrase as: "We will diagnose the health of your business and signal any areas where change is needed" (o.i.d.).

good option Chris, thanks
agree writeaway : and with Chris

thanks P
neutral EgonWegh : Both "the need for any change" and Chris's "any areas where change is needed" are far too mild! With "veranderen" a transition is definitely underway - it is by no means merely an assessment, an audit or something like that ...

well let's see what the others say - the text clearly refers to diagnosis so I consider your rendering to be jumping the gun a little personally. Thanks for the input. Keep well

ability to meet new business needs/conditions

Another option to put in the pot of the previous answers:

skill or proficiency with change . . . Thus, the health of the company, in terms of both operation/management and its ability to adapt to or meet new requirements of the business or industry.

This may be: skill or proficiency in handling change, both change within the company as well as change in response to new conditions exterior to it . . .

Here are a few notes from the internet on this word:

Veranderkundig werken vraagt om leiderschap waarin verschillende dimensies aanwezig zijn. Visionair, strategisch, persoonlijk en beheersmatig leiderschap, zijn allen belangrijk in een zekere balans met elkaar. (http://www.condact.nl/condact_leiderschap_veranderkunde.htm)

transitional management

Transitional Management
Availability of on-going service relationships as transitional or contract on-site managers to ensure successful execution of outcome in a highly complex industry. XXX Inc. offers flexible arrangements from monthly consultative site visits to day-to-day operational management for a period of six months to three years.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Jack den Haan : I think it's the management itself that's changing here. That's not necessarily the case (and usually wouldn't be, I think) when it comes to management of change in an organisation.
