It varies. Some years I've been busier than others. Right now my inbox is quiet and I'll be happy if it stays that way until nextweek. However, this year 4 or 5 clients have asked me to bill them in advance so that they can use up their annual budget.... so it's all ticking over nicely
It varies from year to year. Right now I’m quite busy and I’m also booked for next week. Two big projects are in progress, we will see….
"End of" syndrome | Nov 24, 2017 |
Everybody wants it finished by the "end of" something. When the end of the week, end of the month and end of the year effectively come together, you get an "end of" coincidence event! I find my work load rises steadily through November and December, peaking on Christmas Eve. In January, it falls into the black hole. It does vary from year to year because a month's work, for me, consists of a relatively small number of individual projects (in the 10-20 range) so just one project more... Angus Stewart United Kingdom Local time: 01:54 Member (2011) French to English + ... Its my busiest time of year. | Nov 24, 2017 |
Normally the period running from October until Christmas is my busiest this time of year. However, this year I am moving house so have taken some time off from the fray.
Permanent random | Nov 24, 2017 |
My clients are scattered on a rectangle spanning East from Sydney to Istanbul, and South from Reykjavik to Buenos Aires. I am sure that 95%+ of them don't know each other (5% of the constant ones are referrals). Yet I get the impression that they get in cahoots to leave me idling or working on one-off gigs for a while, and then some virtual battle cry makes them all strike me at once. Timing is always random.

Slow but steady increase from April all the way to December, stationary to slight decrease in January, sharp decrease in February-March (vacation time!), then it starts all over again.

I hope it increases, but I have ups and downs every year, and I can never tell when they are for sure. But January is usually a week month (vacations).
