Translation - English Organ transplant is a therapeutic alternative that offers patients more quantity and quality of life. However, it must be taken into account that not all patients attain better physical, psychological, and social well-being. For example, in an investigation carried out with liver transplant patients, it was found that 60% of the patients considered that their life had not gone back to normal after transplant, mainly because of diverse physical and psychological problems: secondary effects of medication, fatigue, gastrointestinal problems, osteoporosis, and depression.

El grado de abstracción de la tarea puede ser un factor importante facilitador o no en la resolución de problemas aritméticos. Suponemos que en un principio el niño aprende mejor en un nivel concreto para más tarde desarrollar su eficacia matemática a niveles más abstractos y complejos. Aunque es abundante el número de investigaciones realizadas sobre problemas aritméticos en general y más en concreto sobre la estructura semántica, el grado de dificultad, el nivel evolutivo, las estrategias utilizadas y los errores cometidos por los alumnos; no obstante, es notoria la escasez de estudios que aborden directamente el grado de abstracción de tales problemas y su incidencia en el rendimiento matemático de los alumnos.
Translation - English According to the constructivist theoretical framework, children learn to solve arithmetic problems by elaborating cognitive strategies in an active and informal way, at early developmental stages. The degree of task abstraction might be an important facilitating factor to solve arithmetic problems. We assume that children first learn at a concrete level, so as to subsequently develop their mathematical efficacy at more abstract and complex levels. Although there are many investigations on arithmetic problems in general, and, more specifically, on the semantic structure, the degree of difficulty, the developmental level, the strategies used, and the mistakes made by students, there is a remarkable shortage of studies that directly address the degree of abstraction of such problems and its incidence in student’s mathematical achievement.

Source text - Spanish Desde la teoría de la autodeterminación se defiende que el contexto social que rodea a los deportistas y, especialmente, el clima motivacional creado por el entrenador, puede influir en el nivel de motivación intrínseca y diversión de los deportistas. En concreto, se postula que el clima motivacional creado por el entrenador se relaciona con la motivación de los deportistas a través de la satisfacción de sus necesidades psicológicas básicas de competencia, autonomía y relación. Por otro lado, también se sostiene que el tipo de motivación experimentado por los deportistas influye sobre los estados afectivos experimentados.
Translation - English The self-determination theory upholds that the social context surrounding athletes and, particularly, the motivational climate created by the coach, can affect their level of intrinsic motivation and enjoyment. Specifically, it is postulated that the motivational climate created by the coach is related to athletes' motivation through the satisfaction of their basic psychological needs of competence, autonomy, and relatedness.

I worked for 6 years for The Spanish Journal of Psychology (Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Facultad de Psicología). My main task was to turn the articles we received into readable and correct English. I was also responsible for helping to edit the articles and to prepare the finished articles for the press.
As of 2002: freelance translator, specializing in Psychology texts (mainly Psychology articles, written in Spanish, to be presented for publication in journals that publish in English). I have translated articles for University professors from at least 20 Spanish universities, from the areas of Clinical Psychology, Social Psychology, Work Psychology, Developmental and Educational Psychology, Juridical Psychology, Sport Psychology, etc.; most of the Professors are returning clients.
