I am an independent language consultant based in South West France. I translate and interpret from French into English. My most relevant qualifications are:

- the postgraduate Diploma in Translation (French to English) awarded by the Institute of Linguists, London (with merit for the general paper)
- a First Class degree in English (University of Nottingham)
- a masters degree (University of Leeds)

I am on the official list of translators and interpreters for the Cour d'Appel de Pau - which means that I am qualified to work for the courts and police service in my region when the need arises. This also entitles me to provide official sworn (assermenté) translations for private clients. I am a member of the SFT (Société Française des Traducteurs).

Before moving to France in 2004 I taught in two British universities for a period of 20 years - the University of London (Royal Holloway College) and Queen Margaret University College, Edinburgh.

I have numerous publications in the form of reference books, chapters in books, and journal and magazine articles. I have also produced and researched for BBC Radio. A full list of these activities is available on demand.
