Source text - English Bovine milk belongs to the most important allergenic food ingredients especially for children. Already very low amounts of bovine milk can cause allergic reactions, which may lead to anaphylactic shock in severe cases. Because of this, milk allergic persons must strictly avoid the consumption of milk or milk containing food. In particular the presence of hidden milk proteins such as in sausage, cookies, convenience food or beverages represent a critical problem for milk allergic persons. According to EU Directive 2003/89/EG the addition of bovine milk has to be labeled. For the detection of bovine milk in foodstuffs sensitive detection systems are required.
Approximately 20% of bovine milk proteins are whey proteins. The main fraction of whey proteins consists of the heat-stable allergen ß-lactoglobulin.
The XXX represents a highly sensitive detection system and is particularly capable of the identification and quantification of bovine milk residues in cookies, cereals, sausage, orange juice, wine, soy products and chocolate.
Principle of the Test:
The XXX quantitative test is based on the principle of the ELISA - enzyme linked immunosorbent assay.

C'est le cas en particulier de saucisses, cookies, plats préparés et de boissons qui sont des sources cachées de protéines du lait et représentent un problème majeur pour les personnes qui y sont allergiques. Conformément à la Directive Européenne 2003/89/CE, la présence de tout additif à base de lait de vache doit être mentionnée sur l'étiquetage. Environ 20% des protéines de lait de vache sont des protéines de lactosérum, dont la fraction principale est constituée de l'allergène ß-lactoglobuline, résistant à la chaleur.

Source text - English In controlled trials, chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients experienced greater risks for death, serious adverse cardiovascular reactions, and stroke when administered erythropoiesis stimulating agents (ESAs) to target hemoglobin (Hb) levels of 130 g/L and above. Individualize dosing to achieve and maintain Hb levels within the range of 100 to 115 g/L, not to exceed 120 g/L. Studies have described the use of XXX in CKD patients with anemia who have undergone kidney transplantation. The Table on the following pages provides a summary of these published studies.

Source text - English Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia affecting the elderly: to date, over 24 million people are suffering from the disease worldwide. Alzheimer's disease results from the progressive and irreversible accumulation, in different regions of the brain, of extracellular senile plaques (amyloid fibres) and intracellular neurofibrillary tangles (aggregated, hyperphosphorylated tau protein).
Amyloid-β (Aβ) peptides of 39-43 amino acids are the major constituents of senile plaques and result from the cleavage of the amyloid precursor protein (APP) by the β- and γ-secretases. Experimental and theoretical means have demonstrated that the most common forms of the peptide, Aβ (1-42) and Aβ(1-40), fold into β-sheets and self-assemble into amyloid fibres by a nucleation-condensation polymerization mechanism, also called the “amyloid cascade”. Additional factors, like the Cu2+, Zn2+ and Fe3+ metal ions present in the brain, have been shown to play a key role in the disease, by interacting with the amyloid peptides and catalysing their aggregation.

Source text - English The characteristics of the absorbing layer of the detector such as the composition, thickness and dimensions of the XXX absorption layer will be defined by solving the electromagnetic Maxwell equations numerically using a python code in a first phase and by finite-difference time-domain simulations in a second phase (using the software package TTT purchased by YYY). These simulations will use already existing data on the absorption coefficient and refractive index of XXX as a function of the alloy composition. The goal is to determine the minimum thickness of XXX needed to absorb 90% of the incident light for the different spectral bands of interest. Further studies include the incorporation of ZZZ that could help to significantly reduce the total XXX thickness and to obtain wavelength selectivity (filtering).
