English to Italian: Home trainer Detailed field: Sports / Fitness / Recreation
Source text - English Direct-Drive
The **’s unique wheel off design saves your tyres but it is also what makes the ** special. The wheel off design allows us to measure your power output at the hub, with no tyre or roller clamp to disturb your readings. The result is consistent, accurate power. Fits All Bikes with **'s swing arm adjusts the trainer to fit any size bike from 24" to the monster 29'er. (Let's see another trainer do that!)

English to Italian: About Vikings General field: Art/Literary
Source text - English The Vikings would cast wood into the sea before making landfall. The location of the wood would be an indication as to where they should build their mead halls. The wood used for this ritual would found the high-seat pillars of the new hall. Driftwood carried by Arctic rivers was the main, or sometimes only, source of wood for some Inuit and other Arctic populations living north of the tree line until they came into regular contact with European traders. Traditional Inuit boats such as the kayak were fashioned from driftwood frames covered in skins.

Experience
Years of experience: 14. Registered at ProZ.com: Oct 2010.
I am a professional English, Italian
and French translator. I have over 7 years of
experience, including 3 years and half spent as in-house translator. As an in-house translator I worked for an online sports retailer company, being
responsible for the Italian version of the website. This job gave me the chance
to make experience in a crossover of fields (clothing, GPS devices, technical
language, marketing, legal) in translation/proofreading from English into
Italian. On the top of those I was required to do numerous tasks, such as adapting the content and testing the functionality of apps and new website's
developments for the Italian market. The quality of my
experience is confirmed by my membership (MCIL) of the CIOL (Chartered
Institute of Linguists). CIOL is a professional body which certify that the quality
of a linguist’s work meets rigorous standards.
My interests focus mainly on foreign languages and cultures,
travelling, arts and fashion. Here below you can find more details about my
training.
Education
BA in Linguistic and Cultural Mediation, at the Università
degli Studi di Milano: the course aimed at the development of mediation skills
in multicultural settings through the application of sociological, juridical
and economic knowledge. In particular, in this context I was trained on translating
from English into Italian and vice versa
various kind of texts, including material for tourism and arts, articles
on contemporary and scientific topics and instructions.
Master of Arts in Japanese Studies, at The University of
Sheffield. In this course I deepened my knowledge of the Japanese language and
I translated from Japanese into English short tales and articles on
contemporary topics.
Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Modern
Foregin Languages, at The University of Portsmouth. I wanted to transmit my
passion for speaking foreign languages to the younger generations, so I decided
to train in teaching. In this context I taught Italian up to A2 level
(advanced), French up to AS level (upper-intermediate) and Japanese for
beginners.
Learning French: I learnt French by attending language
courses both in Italy and France, by working as an intern in France and by
keeping in contact, in writing and in person, with French communities.
Other interests
Long term passion for the arts and for the ancient history.
Apart from frequent readings and visits to exhibitions on this thematic I
attended various kind of courses and meetings, including drawing & painting
courses, practical and theoretical workshops on modern art and conferences
about the archaeological discoveries in the Como area.
Interest in the fashion world, deepened by registering to an
on-line course on Fashion Design (L4 Diploma in Fashion Design, Brentwood Open
Learning college) and to a short course on fabrics (Understanding fabrics:
fibres and fabrics, University of the Arts London).
