Элемент тайны составляет здесь самую сущность.
Если бы когда-либо удалось сочинить полное и убедительное определение творчества, это означало бы одно:
культура прекратила развитие, и потому человек способен смотреть на феномен творчества отчужденно, как на нечто экзотическое.
Творчество – явление самоопределяющее, определяющее самое себя.
Уже во введении говорилось, что хотя создание нового – это непременное условие творчества, этого недостаточно.
Нужно еще, чтобы новое создавалось как именно Новое, осознанно, чтобы создатель его вопринимал себя в роли творца.
Для сугубо традиционной восточной культуры, с ее сосредоточенностью на вечно повторяющемся, такая позиция невозможна, и потому слово «творчество» оказываетс в ней пустым звуком.
Translation - English Creativity in Architecture
Creativity is one of those mysterious phenomena that in their very nature elude the net of logic.
Mysteriousness is its very core.
If someone managed to come up with a full and valid definition of creativity it would mean only one thing:
culture stopped its development and humans can look at the phenomenon of creativity as something unrelated to them and exotic.
Creativity is a self defining occurrence and it defines itself.
As we mentioned in the introduction, creation of everything new is a necessary condition for creativity, however this alone is not enough.
It is necessary for the new to be created consciously as New and for its author to see himself as the creator.
For strictly traditional Oriental culture, with its concentration on eternally repeating itself, this point of view is impossible, so the word "creativity" means nothing in its context.

Source text - English Mixing Mortar
Mortar is the cementitious material that bonds units, connectors, and reinforcement together for strength and weather resistance.
Although it contributes to the compressive strength of the masonry, mortar’s primary functions are in providing bond strength and in sealing the joints between units against the passage of air and water.
To perform these functions, it must be properly mixed and placed to achieve intimate contact with the unit surface and form both a mechanical and chemical interlock.
Mortar mixes must be carefully controlled at the job site to maintain consistency in performance and appearance.
Consistent measurement of mortar ingredients should ensure uniformity of proportions, yields, strengths, workability, and mortar color from batch to batch.
Volume rather than weight proportioning is most often used because it is simpler.
Portland cement, mason’s lime, and masonry cement are packaged and labeled only by weight.
Foundation Walls
Excavations for foundation walls may be done in one of two ways.
If the foundation wall will be only a foot or two in height, the footing and the wall may be built in a trench that outlines the perimeter of the building and then backfilled from both sides.
If the footing must be deeper because of the frost depth, it is often expedient to excavate the entire “footprint “ of the building using heavy equipment.
The wall is then backfilled from the outside only, leaving a crawl space on the inside of the wall.
Walls that are backfilled on both sides are very stable because the soil pressures are balanced and help the wall to resist buckling from vertical loads.
Tall walls that are backfilled on only one side must resist significant lateral loads from the unbalanced backfill.
Trench excavations for short walls and crawl space excavations for taller walls can be roughly marked on the ground with a sack of mason’s lime so the backhoe operator can see where to dig.
The excavations should be wide enough to allow plenty of room for erecting the forms, with the sides sloped generously to prevent cave-ins.

Раствор - это материал на основе цемента, который связывает элементы кладки и арматуру, образуя прочное и устойчивое к влиянию окружающей среды соединение.
Хотя раствор и способствует прочности кладки на сжатие, его основные функции заключаются в обеспечении прочности кладки и герметизации швов между ее элементами от прохождения воздуха и воды.

Выемка грунта под фундаментные стены может выполняться двумя способами.
Если фундаментные стены будут только один или два фута в высоту, основание и стена могут быть возведены в траншее, идущей периметру здания, а затем засыпаны грунтом с обеих сторон.
Если основание должно быть глубже из-за большой глубины промерзания грунта, часто рекомендуется вынуть грунт по всей площади строящегося здания с использованием тяжелой техники.
Затем грунт засыпается только снаружи фундаментных стен, оставляя внутри здания техническое подполье.
Стены, засыпанные грунтом с обеих сторон, более устойчивы, поскольку сбалансированное давление почвы помогает стене противостоять изгибам от вертикальных нагрузок.
Высокие стены, которые засыпаются только с одной стороны, должны противостоять значительным боковым нагрузкам от несбалансированной обратной засыпки.

Source text - Russian Само слово «дирижабль» по-французски обозначает «управляемый». Другое название этих аппаратов – «цеппелин» - относится к дирижаблям определенной конструкции, разработанной и в 1900 году поставленной на серийное производство немецким военным инженером Фердинандом Цеппелином.
Одним из первопроходцев в этой области считается француз Анри Жиффар, который 24 сентября 1852 г. совершил первый полет на дирижабле с паровым двигателем мощностью 3 л.с., приводившим в движение трехлопастной винт диаметром 3,35 м. Жиффар пролетел 27 км со средней скоростью 8 км/ч. Оболочка дирижабля имела объем 2492 м3 и длину почти 44 м.
С развитием техники появились полностью управляемые воздушные суда, позволяющие совершать круговой полет и приземляться в месте старта (дирижабль «Франция», 1884 г.). А в 1888 г. взлетел дирижабль немецкого производства на бензиновом двигателе Даймлера.
2 июля 1900 г. был совершен пробный полет дирижабля «LZ-1» собственной конструкции графа Цеппелина. После устранения выявившихся недоработок, модель «Z-1» была приобретена военными.
С тех пор военная техника стала постоянно пополняться дирижаблями. В 1909 г. французский «Сантос-Дюмон» испытывался в качестве авиаматки, то есть несущего для аэроплана «14 бис». Позже такие испытания для перевозки более совершенных самолетов проводились англичанами в 1918 г., когда на дирижабле «R-23» были в буквальном смысле подвешены сразу несколько аэропланов.
Но цеппелины широко применялись и гражданскими авиакомпаниями, например «Делаг», созданная все тем же фон Цеппелином. Дирижабли «LZ-5» и «LZ-6» стали пассажирскими. За три года ее работы не было ни одной жертвы (при трех авариях), дирижабли перевезли 34 000 чел. В 1912 г. начались международные рейсы, а в 1919-м – трансатлантические.
Новые возможности дирижаблей позволяли совершать и более масштабные путешествия. Ярким примером здесь может служить экспедиция на Северный полюс, которую предпринял знаменитый норвежский исследователь Роалд Амундсен, на итальянском аппарате, названном «Норвегия», совместно с итальянцем Умберто Нобиле и американцем Линкольном Эллсуортом. Не менее впечатляющим событием стало и кругосветное путешествие на воздушном судне «Граф Цеппелин» 8-29 августа 1929 г. Трассу в более чем 35 000 км цеппелин прошел за 21 сутки и 5 часов.
Translation - English The word “dirigible” itself means “able to be directed” in French. The other name for these airships – “zeppelin” – applies to dirigibles of a certain configuration that were developed by German military engineer Ferdinand Zeppelin and started to be mass produced in 1900.
Henry Giffard is considered to be one of the pioneers in this field. On September 24th, 1852 he made the first flight in a dirigible with a three horsepower steam engine that operated a three-blade propeller 3.35 m in diameter. Giffard flew 27 km with an average speed of 8 km per hour. The volume of the dirigible’s skin was 2,492 m3 and its length - nearly 44 m.
With further development of technology fully operable airships appeared, which could fly in full circle and land at the takeoff point (dirigible “France”, 1884). In 1888 took off and flew the German made dirigible with a Daimler gas engine.

Later, in 1918, the British conducted some tests carrying more sophisticated airplanes, several of them were literally hanging off of the dirigible “R-23”.
Zeppelins were used by civil aviation as well, for example by DELAG airline, founded by aforementioned von Zeppelin. Dirigibles “LZ-5” and “LZ-6” became passenger aircraft. In three years of its operation there were no casualties (even though there were three crashes), and dirigibles transported 34,000 people. In 1912 international flights were started, and in 1919 – transatlantic flights.
The dirigibles’ new capabilities allowed them to start making flights on a larger scale. A brilliant example was the North Pole expedition by famous Norwegian researcher Roald Amundsen, who flew an Italian airship called “Norway” together with an Italian explorer, Umberto Nobile, and an American, Lincoln Ellsworth. No less impressive was the around the world trip of the airship Count Zeppelin on August 8-29, 1929. The zeppelin covered over 35,000 km in 21 days and 5 hours.

Щурясь от слепящего в глаза солнца поправил темные очки, зачесал волосы с проседью. Проверил ремни парашюта и наклонился к приборной доске. «… топливо… максимум, элероны, закрылки… выдвинул, штурвал, рули… шаг винта, альтиметр… установил, тахометр… все в порядке.»
Посмотрел вперед – на пустое гладкое серое поле. В конце полосы, в дрожащем мареве раскаленного воздуха, виднелись расплывчатые кроны невысоких деревьев и крыши частных домов. «… сумасшедшая неделя… идиотский день… все, забудь…» Глубоко вздохнул и резко выжал газ до максимума, отпуская тормоз. Самолет покатился, подрагивая на стыках плит. Полоса побежала навстречу, ускоряясь.
«… что же тебя влево тянет? … хорошо, ветерок… расслабься, обдумаешь стратегию поведения… через всю Америку лететь… скорость… еще… еще… есть!» Потянул рукоятку на себя и самолет рванулся вверх, вдавив Питера в сиденье. «… классно! … но не так резко.» Повел рукояткой и стал спокойнее набирать высоту. Самолет перестало трясти, хотя мотор натужно завывал.

Питер обернулся. Внизу клубилась серая туча пыли. Быстро поднимаясь вверх и разрастаясь, она заволакивала стремительно удаляющиеся горы. Донесся низкий рокот… и тут же оглушительно загрохотало.
«… землетрясение?!» Отпустил ручку управления и перестал набирать высоту.
Цессна один шесть шесть три. – Питер, перекрывая гул, перешел на крик. - Санта Моника вышка, ответьте!
Облако пыли, бурля, накрыло пляж и наступало на волнистое поле мокрого песка, круто уходящее вниз. «… как я так быстро отлетел?! ... где океан?!»
Блестящая, переливающаяся масса стремительно уходила от берега, оставляя за собой бурые ленты водорослей и сверкающие на солнце каменные глыбы.

Translation - English Peter turned the airplane around on the runway and, pressing the breaks, brought it to a stop. Smudges from landing airplanes' tires made it hard to see the markings on the concrete.
Squinting in the bright sunlight, he adjusted his sunglasses, ran his fingers through his graying hair. He leaned closer to the instrument panel.
"... Fuel ... full tanks, ailerons, flaps for takeoff... the controls ... propeller pitch, altimeter ... set, tachometer ... checklist complete.”
He looked ahead of him at the empty smooth gray field. At the end of the runway, in the shimmering haze of hot air, blurry crowns of low trees and rooftops of houses could be seen.
"...Crazy week... an insane day... ok, forget it..."
He breathed in deeply and pushed the throttle all the way in, releasing the breaks. The airplane started to roll, jumping on the joints in the concrete. The runway raced underneath, faster and faster.
"...Why are you pulling to the left? ... Nice breeze... Just relax; you'll decide on the best plan of action... It's a long flight across the US... Okay, airspeed... faster... faster...here we go!"
He pulled the yoke and the airplane rushed upwards, pushing Peter into the seat.
"... This is fun! ... not so steep though."
He released the controls slightly and started to climb more gradually. The airplane stopped shaking even though the engine roared with strain. He looked down - at the golf course slipping by, at diminishing houses with their swimming pools, at the ocean sparkling in the distance with the waves rolling onto the wide beach.
"... This is nice... this is worth living for! ...Flaps up... propeller pitch... altitude...too early..."
“Santa Monica tower, Cherokee two one-a-a...”
Controller's voice became a scream and broke off.
"... What the hell?!"
“Tower, what's going on?”
Peter looked down. Beneath him grew a gray cloud of dust. Rising and spreading, it was quickly enveloping the disappearing mountains. Low rumble came... and then a deafening crash.
“...An earthquake?!”
He released the yoke and stopped climbing.
“Cessna one six six three,” shouted Peter, trying to make himself heard over the roar. “Santa Monica Tower, please respond!”
A churning cloud of dust covered the beach and moved towards the rippled stretch of wet sand that sloped steeply down.
"... How did I get away so fast? ... where is the ocean?!”
Sparkling, glistening mass was moving fast, away from the shore, leaving behind it brown strips of sea grass and giant rocks gleaming in the sun.
“Any radio, tower!!! Answer Cessna one six six three!!!”
“... The water’s moved away ... hell, what's going on?!! ... just fly along the ridge.”

I have a 6-year degree in architecture and over 15 years experience working in the design and construction industry, where I did translation as an everyday part of my job.
