Dear colleagues, while it was over ten years ago, I seem to remember a website or a (homebrew?) application for PC/Android, which took a list of required words (plain text) and showed two-three example sentences with each word (e.g. where used as a noun and as a verb or in a set expression/idiom). Not sure about other languages, yet it did support English.
A quick search gave no relevant things, alas.

Do you happen to know such a service or a piece of software?

I use WordNet 2.1 for English. There other languages, too.

You can Google "WordNet" or visit my page for short example:

Search "sentence", results:

The noun sentence has 3 senses (first 3 from tagged texts)

1. (31) sentence -- (a string of words satisfying the grammatical rules of a language; "he always spoke in grammatical sentences")
2. (5) conviction, judgment of conviction, condemnation, sentence -- ((criminal law) a final judgment of guilty in a criminal case and the punishment that is imposed; "the conviction came as no surprise")
3. (3) prison term, sentence, time -- (the period of time a prisoner is imprisoned; "he served a prison term of 15 months"; "his sentence was 5 to 10 years"; "he is doing time in the county jail")

The verb sentence has 1 sense (first 1 from tagged texts)

1. (6) sentence, condemn, doom -- (pronounce a sentence on (somebody) in a court of law; "He was condemned to ten years in prison")

Addition:

a) If you have monolingual or multilingual TXT file (or TMX) you import it into TM Lookup (MS for MS Windows)

http://www.condak.cz/nove/2019-05/16/cs/01.html

search a word and then export file with "hits".

b) the same can be done in AntConc

d) all CATs allow Concordance search, some Find feature everywhere (in source files, e.g. OmegaT). You can search in Very large TM at Wordfast Anywhere.

e) SW for SEO (Search Engine Optimalisation)
