Editing/Find not working in SDL Trados Studio 2017

For the last couple of weeks the Find function has not worked with any files. Sometimes the Editing option is missing completely, and when it's there, clicking on 'Find' (or the binoculars) does not bring up the window. I can see that a second window has opened at the bottom of the screen, but when I hover over it, it turns up blank, and when I click on it nothing happens:

Is anyone else having this problem? And is there a simple solution? Thanks in advance for any help.

Reset Window Layout Nov 28, 2020

Anna, did you try to Reset Window Layout in View tab?
(I'm using Trados Studio 2019, but I think the features used are the same).

window may be hidden off the screen Nov 28, 2020

The Find window may be hidden off the screen.
In this case

1 Hover your mouse over the icon on the task bar
2 A small screen should appear after about a second. Move your mouse over that small screen
3 Right click and select Move
4 Press down (or any other arrow key) on your keyboard
5 Then move your mouse and you should be able to reposition the window back on your screen.

Windows is not very user-friendly in this case...

Thank you so much for these suggestions. James' turned out to be the solution. Huge relief. Come to think of it, the problem may have started after my son had my PC connected to our TV and I had forgotten to close Trados first. I read online that the problem can appear if you use more than one monitor, but I had no idea how to fix it in my case.
