Dear colleagues, I've been asked by a friend to help her identify the language of the following song lyrics (and possibly provide a rough translation). Might this be Occitan? Any hints are much appreciated! Jo tinc un amor petit i llaminer com un infant. Un amor escadusser que mossega l'esquer i no s'empassa l'ham. Jo tinc un amor rumbós, vermell i sucós com una magrana. Might this be Occitan? Any hints are much appreciated! Many thanks in advance, kind regards Erik ▲ Collapse

You could ask in the Spanish forum, I think it's Catalan too. For Google translate too,it is catalan - but the translatin does not really make any sense.

J'ai une petite idée de la traduction mais je n'ose la proposer, je n'ai pas de réelles connaissances du catalan. Comme le suggère Dominique, le mieux est sans doute de demander à nos amis Espagnols. Cependant, ma curiosité de traductrice adorerait connaître la traduction faite par quelqu'un qui maîtrise la langue et la comparer avec ce que je crois être la traduction.
At least according Google. Just paste the first part In Google, and it says that the song has been translated from Catalan to Spanish by Joan Manuel Serrat.

It looks like Catalan to me (although I am not a specialist - I can only say 'Llibertat Catalunya!' and 'Barça, mès que un club). The presence of grave accents (à, è) is a strong element in Catalan, also the LL at the end of words, as in traball (spelling?) which means work (like trabajo, trabalho, travail) and Meritxell (girl's name) - not like the Welsh LL though.
