Btw, if Craigslist is any indication, this type of buyer is utterly unreliable anyway, and should only ever be engaged with when all other options are exhausted.

In the UK, we call this “mates rates”.
I had to think long and hard about that. Should it be “mates rates” or “mates’ rates” (or even “mate’s rates”)? The online dictionaries want an apostrophe but it doesn’t feel right. It seems to imply a two-way process, but it never is.
Perhaps the grammar police will be along soon to help me?
Mind you, I’m probably overthinking this, seeing as mates rates are generally restricted to fields where punctuation is not a major concern.
