Source text - English Terry stepped into the dimly-lit room. When his eyes adapted to the darkness, he saw a counter with an old black lady sitting behind it. Fixing her calm stare on him, she patiently waited for him to say something. The boy desperately tried, but words wouldn't come out of his parched throat. The silence was growing uncomfortable. Finally, after waiting for what seemed like forever, the old lady snorted and opened her mouth. Incredibly soft voice came out, reminiscent of something that was long-forgotten.
"Why, hello there, dear. How may I help you?"
And the uneasiness disappeared like it was never there, although the dryness in boy's throat was not going to go anywhere without a good long gulp of water. Still, he managed to tell the reason for him being here, and the old lady's eyes initially went round like they were saucers, and then narrowed in growing fury.
"So there are people like that..." muttered she and then suddenly stood up and stormed out, leaving the amazed boy behind.
Translation - Russian Терри вошёл в полутёмное помещение. Когда глаза его свыклись со тьмой, мальчик увидел стойку. за которой сидела чернокожая мадам почтенного возраста. Она спокойно взирала на мальчика, ожидая его слов. А тот хоть и старался их выдавить, но из пересохшего горла не выходило ни звука. Тишина становилась всё неуютнее. Наконец, после ожидания, показавшегося Терри вечностью, женщина фыркнула и заговорила первой — на удивление мягким голосом, напоминавшим что-то, давно канувшее в бездну забвения.
— Ну здравствуй, малыш. Чего тебе?
И стеснение разом пропало, словно и не бывало его, хотя сухость в горле прогнал бы только добрый глоток воды. Всё-таки он кое-как объяснил цель своего прихода, и глаза старой женщины поначалу сделались круглыми, будто бы блюдечки, а затем прищурились во вскипающей ярости.
— Ишь ты, какие мерзавцы бывают, значит... — пробормотала она под нос — и вдруг, взметнувшись, ураганом вылетела на улицу, оставив разинувшего рот мальчишку наедине с собой.

I don't take highly specialized Japanese to English jobs (e.g., texts full of technical terms and professional slang). General or marketing texts are fine, however.Please also note that I don't accept post-MT editing requests or interpreting opportunities and that my ill health (as of 2021 and until this note is removed) limits my average daily capacity.
A talented, practised, and constantly learning translator (registered as an individual entrepreneur since 2017) who uses any reasonable methods that are necessary to complete a task effectively. As for manual translation, I work pretty fast for my translation quality, however, the daily amount can be amazingly irregular: anywhere from 2000 words to 4000. As far as I know, I am able to translate up to 700 words per hour in my expertise fields both with and without the help of a convenient CAT tool.
Also, I'm a bearded man and I take pride in my beard. A good thing about being a freelance translator is that you don't need to shave your natural and noble adornment to get a great job.

December 1, 2016: Won my first translation award in the first contest I ever tried to participate in.
July 2, 2017: Took TrackTest for the heck of it. Very disappointed in the test. It is far too easy for a paid one. C2 certificate with a perfect score in a matter of twenty minutes? Yeah, that's quite a dubious achievement.
October 2017: Won a translation contest (the "literary prose translation from English to Russian" category, to be specific) conducted by a regional university (TSTU).
