English to German: Opera Workbook for Workshop General field: Art/Literary
Source text - English "What is a Personal Brand and why is it important to you?
A Personal Brand is defining yourself instead of letting others define you. Your Personal Brand is a powerful, clear, positive idea that
comes to mind when others think about you. Only when you have a Personal Brand can you be congruent on the inside, which
allows you to be consistent with your actions on the outside.
A Personal Brand speaks volumes no matter what role you are playing at the moment. And the good news is that you may vary
your style when playing these roles, but you don’t have to change your behavior. Some of the roles you may play are: singer,
colleague, family member, participant in your community, employee, etc. You may not realize it, but through your actions, others
know what they can expect from you on a 24/7 basis. As a singer it’s through your behavior and actions during auditions, rehearsals,
and performance that allows others to know and experience your brand. It’s about how professional and authentic you are. A
company hiring singers does not want divas. They are looking for consistent, genuine and likable people that will put butts in the
seats of their theaters and bring in repeat customers. They want someone that they themselves, the audience and public will fall in
love with and stay in love over several performance seasons."
