أتناول اليوم إشكالية الشغف بتعلم اللغات الأجنبية حتى وصل بنا هذا الشغف أن اتهمنا لغتنا الأم بالفقر وعدم الثراء. جاء الحديث بعدما كنت أتصفح مقالات وحروف منثورة هنا وهناك لزملاء أفاضل في مجالات الترجمة والتحرير والتعريب، وإذ وجدت بين طيات تلك المقالات مقالًا يتهم لغتنا الأم بالافتقار لمرادفات كثيرة مقارنة باللغة الإنجليزية حيث استهلت على حديثها -صاحبة المقالة- بمثال عن لفظة “الابتسامة” متجاهلة بذلك مجرد تصفح المعاجم أو حتى قاموس المعاني ولسان العرب على الإنترنت كما يرد أدناه:
