Retire! Feb 3, 2017

Reduce my work progressively so as to be able to retire - I don't feel able to tell my clients "stopping right now and sort it out as you can".

Get better clients.
The other day I was asked by a smallish agency client of mine how much "effort" I could agree to for an urgent banking project. My base rate with them is 0,10 euro (which is why I avoid them as much as I can). Do they know I'm not sitting around twiddling my thumbs till they send me one of their crappy jobs? Do they realise "urgent" automatically calls for a higher rate, rather than the opposite? Do they mind selling words by the kilo? Do they care?
That is what I

That is what I mean by getting better clients. Slowly but surely - and I'm in a very good mood today ( -;

Take a long vacation Feb 3, 2017

for 5 months and walk the El Camino again but this time straight from my home's door, from Budapest to Santiago de Compostela across all Europe on foot.

Those 42 days from Saint-Jean-Pied-du-Port to Santiago, then further to Finisterra in 2010 were the happiest days of my life...

Have you read "Therapy" by David Lodge? If not you could bring it with you and travel with one of this novel's characters.

At this stage of my professional life, I’d love to keep my client base and take things as they come along, meaning that new clients are always welcome...

Get more/better clients Feb 3, 2017

I'd like to expand my client base, get away from (more of) the "I need it yesterday, but will pay in 30+ days" customers who have never heard of rush fees. And I'd like to find more clients who appreciate my type of service/my fields of expertise.

Guess I got up on the wrong foot this morning.

don't know Feb 3, 2017

I'd like to have more clients.. although I am always busy, but you know getting client who allow a higher rate and shorter payment terms....
but no I am happy with it...
Having my own agency... that would be a long term plan, for my kids... and maybe for me as well.. so I should not worry about not being able to type as fast as I can now....

But really I am so focused on working I do not even think about it

Dream project Feb 3, 2017

More direct clients in my field of interest : social security and pension schemes.
Fascinating although it does not sound very attractive.

Getting better clients Feb 6, 2017

It's not so much about getting a larger amount of clients, but having clients that are worth working for --clients that are nice, pay acceptable rates and pay on time.

Other plus some of these Feb 10, 2017

I have often thought about some of these options, and they may be in my future plans, like opening an agency, outsourcing, etc.
But my immediate objective is not in that list. Right now, I barely have any free time, but 30% of my jobs/clients/income is still in my home country, where the rates range from 40% to 60% of what I make abroad. So my first goal now is to get rid of local clients, replacing them with international clients. From 2013 to 2016, I was able to do that with 60% of my cl

So my first goal now is to get rid of local clients, replacing them with international clients. From 2013 to 2016, I was able to do that with 60% of my clients, moving from a 10%/90% international/local ratio to the current 70%/30%. But I want to make that 90%/10%, if I can.
