I have been an English > Portuguese freelance translator for the last 5 years. I started translating during my graduation in International Management, and since then I have translated more than 2 million words. I am able to translate around 15,000 - 20,000 words a week, and to edit/proofread around 40,000 words a week.
My equipment is a Pentium IV 2.4GHz, with 200.0GB of hard disk, 1 GB of RAM and a cable modem. The software I normally use is MS Office XP, Windows XP, Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, PageMaker 7, Quark X-Press 5.0, Adobe Acrobat 6.0, OmniPage Pro 12.0, etc. About CAT tools, I use TRADOS Freelance Edition 7, DejaVu 3 or DejaVu X for almost all translation jobs performed. I also own and use SDLX 4.2 and Transit Satellite very frequently.
EXPERIENCE:
1997 - now: Freelance English / Portuguese translator, in the following fields: - Finance and Banking; - Engineering; - Medical; - Economics; - Software Localization; - Web sites; - Business Administration; - Computing; - Marketing; - Humanities; - Social Sciences, etc.
2000- now : Financial Analyst at Fortis Bank in Amsterdam, at the Department of Open Market Operations. Besides other financial activities, I frequently use to translate and edit/proofread manuals and papers from English to Portuguese.
