Spanish to English: Wikipedia definition of "social sciences" (TM-town sample text) General field: Social Sciences
Translation - English The term social sciences is a generic term for those disciplines or fields of knowledge that claim to be scientific, that address address and analyse different aspects of social groups and human beings in society, and that concern themselves with both their material and immaterial manifestations. Other terms used synonymously or non-synonymously, according to the person using them, are the human sciences and the humanities (terms which are differentiated by different epistemological and methodological considerations). Different combinations of these terms are also used, such as the human and social sciences. The social sciences study the origin of individual and collective behaviour in search of the social laws that determine them and that are expressed in the totality of human institutions and societies. At the same time the social sciences study may study a specific aspect of human behaviour in a specific place, culture, and time. In the classification of sciences, they are distinguished from the natural sciences and the formal sciences. They address the behaviour and activities of humans, generally not studied in the natural sciences.

Experience
Years of experience: 10. Registered at ProZ.com: Nov 2016.
In 2016 I graduated with an MA from the Linguistics Department of SOAS (the School of Oriental and African Studies), within the University of London. As part of this MA I took courses in translation theory, translation technology (including SDL Trados and SDL MultiTerm), descriptive linguistics, syntax, phonology, language revitalization, and field methods for language documentation, receiving a distinction in all courses.
In 2013 I graduated with a BA in Chinese from the University of Oxford, where I took courses in general linguistics, Daoist philosophy, Chinese history, and contemporary Chinese society and politics.
I am fluent in Spanish as a result of having travelled regularly in Spanish-speaking South America since age 18, and I have been living in southern Chile since September 2016.
I also have a Trinity Certificate in teaching English to speakers of other languages and have worked as an English teacher, largely to Spanish- and Chinese-speaking students, at the Wimbledon School of English, London.
