non capisco questo 'auf den nächsten' senza complemento.

Come ha fatto giustamente notare Christel, si tratta di un arrotondamento per difetto ("ab-"), non per eccesso. Chiedo scusa per il lapsus. Lungi da me la volontà di indurre in errore.
