If you love the straight bustline of a balconette but could live without the extra oomph, then a half cup bra is for you. It gives a similar balcony line under clothes, but without the push-up effect.

Very fashionable and consequently much misused, balconette is one of those buzzwords that we hear a lot these days. Here's the official Figleaves definition: half cup, push-up effect, wide-set straps, and horizontal bust line. Often seamed or boned, it creates a great cleavage and a lovely frame-like effect. This is a bra that's meant to be seen.

From what I have gathered a balconnet is a regular demi-cup and a balconnet has the extra added "push-up" element. Wonderbras are under the balconnet category, for example.

this site has a general explanation of the differences, but I think that 'balconnet' is a stiff (not necessarily padded) and round-shaped demi-cup intended to make a nice shape while 'corbeille' is an extra low demi-cup without intending to reshape
