This seems a term in French medical law. The "practioner" in the following French reference is an MD. The English literal translation would be as above. I haven't found this whole term, but offer it as a suggestion.

La France accueille des praticiens à diplômes hors UE selon deux voies principales.
• Jusqu’en 1999, les médecins à diplômes hors UE pouvaient être recrutés par les hôpitaux, de
façon dérogatoire, même s’ils n’avaient pas une autorisation de plein exercice en France sous le
statut de praticien "associé" (attaché ou assistant). Ils ne sont autorisés à exercer que sous la
responsabilité directe d’un praticien de plein exercice et uniquement dans les établissements
publics de santé. Plusieurs procédures ont cependant permis de délivrer prés de 10 000

NOTE:

I think you should think very carefully before translating your query as "associate practitioner".

You need to be clear of what the defintion is in French, first.

I believe that "practicien" = [hospital] consultant, based on my above reference, and based on many others I could send you.

"Associate Practitioner" in the UK NHS is something else to that defined in the French reference I have supplied

What will my role as an Associate Practitioner be?
 You will deliver care to patients under the direct supervision of a registered practitioner, such as a qualified nurse in community or acute care.
 You will develop the level of knowledge and skill beyond that of the traditional healthcare support worker.
 This new role will involve working at a higher level than existing healthcare support workers and will ultimately involve taking some tasks from registered nurses.
Why does the NHS need Associate Practitioners?
 The NHS requires innovative and creative approaches to the supply of staff at all levels
 A key component of the challenges of supply of staff is the introduction of this new worker

In my mind a "practicien associé/attaché" is more highly qualified in France than in the UK and would work under the supervision of a consultant, i.e. "Junior Doctor".

a general practitioner in the last reference = a GP/family doctor - In French this = médecin de famille/médecin généraliste and NOT "practicien"!
