Du schreibst, dass "Karamelle" ein regional geläufiger Term ist, den die Allgemeinheit nicht verstehen würde ... Das sehen Duden & Co. anders; auch ich kenne diesen Begriff, und zwar eben zur Bezeichnung von Kau- bzw. Lutschbarem, sei es nun hart wie ein Bonbon oder weich wie Fudgekonfekt. "Sahnig" passt meiner Ansicht nach nicht für Kau- oder Lutschbonbons, denn das kann irreführend sein. Das Fudgekonfekt wurde zwar mit Sahne zubereitet, ist aber alles andere als "sahnig-leicht", wobei ich nicht auf die Kalorien anspiele, sondern auf die Textur, die doch recht mastig ist. Gerade bei Ess- und Trinkbarem finde ich, dass die Trefferhäufigkeit oft nach hinten losgeht, weil dadurch gerne falsch oder missverständlich formulierte Begriffe oder Übersetzungen weiter Verbreitung finden. Was spricht denn gegen Sahnefudge?

1. zum Lutschen bestimmte Süßigkeit (Duden)
2. eine Süßigkeit in der Form eines harten, kleinen Klumpens, den man lutscht.

The German page of the example furnished by the Asker simply ignores the word " fudge" and offers "cremige Karamellbonbons". "Creamy" implies IMO that they are soft ("weich").

@ Edith: There we have it. When the asker asks in English what is the German equivalent of cream fudge, I assume he means what the English understand by cream fudge, translated into German. Not what the German-speaking world "thinks" fudge is.

Ich mag weder Karamell in deutschsprachigen Ländern noch fudge in englischsprachigen Ländern, bin also neutral: meiner Meinung nach (da bin ich auch nicht allein) gibt es harte und weiche Karamellbonbons, siehe z.B.

Danach ist Toffee hart und Fudge weich. Ob man im Zusammenhang mit Karamell ausdrücklich betonen muss, ob es sich um etwas Hartes oder Weiches handelt, weiß ich nicht - wichtig ist wohl die Sahne.

Sahnebonbons are not hard. What makes you think they are? When using fudge in German, then it refers to a taste and not to consistency.

@ Jonathan: Granted, that is what they are called, but that is not what they are! The question here is "what is the best German equivalent for cream fudge". If you're a fudge addict, there is no way you could translate it with Karamellbonbons! Or even Sahnebonbons, which are both hard. As you yourself said - it's a question of consistency.
