From a survey aimed at people with diabetis. In this particular question, the respondents are asked why they stopped using a specific brand of glucometer. The pre-coded responses are:

1. Not covered by insurance
2. Coding on the meter (code key)
3. Sample size required
4. Lancing device that came with the meter
5. Display brightness
6. Display size
7. There is no strip light
8. Short battery life
9. The size of the meter
10. Strip is maltose dependent
11. Just didn’t like the meter (not specific)
12. Didn’t like the handling of the meter

I'm thinking that "there is no strip light" might mean either that:

there is no flashing light indicator on the display to let you know that you need to insert a test strip

OR

the device does not have a test strip port light (i.e. something that lights the place where you need to insert the test strip, for on-the-go testing in low light)

Does anybody know what is the meaning of this, and if so, the correct way to translate it? (it would be for a French-Canadian audience).
