Typically, an SKU (pronounced with the individual letters or as SKYEW) is associated with any purchasable item in a store or catalog. For example, a woman's blouse of a particular style and size might have an SKU of "3726-8," meaning "Style 3726, size 8." The SKU identification for a product may or may not be made visible to a customer. SKU numbers can sometimes be seen in online e-commerce sites. (However, many customers are not likely to be familiar with the term.) An SKU is not the same as a product model number from a manufacturer, although the model number could form all or part of the SKU. The SKU is established by the merchant. stockkeeping unit An item at a particular geographic location. Note : For example, a product stocked at six different distribution centers would represent six SKU's, plus perhaps another for the plant at which it was manufactured. Abrév. SKU/unité de stock Explanation: Ce n'est qu'un complément aux réponses précédentes: - la plupart des grossistes et constructeurs (parmi ceux que j'ai consulté: Ingram, TechData, IBM, Dell) utilisent l'abréviation SKU même en France - dans du texte j'utiliserais plutôt "unité de stock" quitte à expliquer entre parenthèses à la première occurrence - je n'ai jamis vu l'abréviation canadienne recommandée en France |
