A highly educated freelance translator working from French, Spanish and German into clear and concise first-language English, I have been freelance translating on a full-time basis since 2005. I offer a reliable and professional translation service to a range of corporate clients, private individuals and agencies.
I grew up in Co. Clare in the west of Ireland. During my university years, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to live, work and/or study for extended periods in each of France, Germany and Spain. I also enjoyed life in London for 5 years, where I got some great corporate exposure and undertook a masters in technical and specialised translation. I now live in Brisbane, Australia, where I'm enjoying one of the biggest perks of being a freelance translator - the ability to work from anywhere in the world, while still remaining available to my mostly Europe-based clients.
On the technology side of things, I have a good working knowledge of Trados, Wordfast and Déjà Vu, and am familiar with DTP packages such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I'm also fortunate to have regular contact with a strong network of experienced colleagues and take occasional short-term inhouse positions. This ensures I am up to date with developments across the profession.
Most importantly, I don't believe in resting on my laurels. Continuing professional development (CPD) is, and always will be, key to offering the very highest level of expertise as a translator. I invest a lot of resources in the development of both my translation and subject specific skills, and as a result, my clients are assured of an exceptional level of service, every time.
