I received the following email and would like to know what the intended purpose of the agency directory and the "Send Email" option is within agency profiles? Here is the email I received:
"A message you submitted via ProZ.com with the subject line "Adarve
Translations Arabic to English Translator" has been rejected by
site staff or moderators.
Reason: Do not use this form to advertise your services

You need to specify the purpose of the email from a drop-down list. It can relate to a discussion taking place on KudoZ or in the forums, or an offer of work, etc. On a panel on the right, it says: "Do not use this form to advertise your services."
You should use the Companies Directory to offer your services. The directory will tell you how to contact the agency (if they do indeed want you to). I think you can also contact them through the Blue Board, but I'm not 100% sure.

Hi Dan,
The purpose of the ProZ.com directories is for clients or outsourcers in general to find service providers and offer them work.
In order to get jobs, you should have a great profile that will be found by companies when they look for providers like you.
Some companies ask for applications through the Blue Board
Offering your own services through the profile email feature is not in line with http://www.proz.com/siterules/general/3#3
The proper use of the profile email is made clear in the corresponding form:

But you should then contact them directly, after visiting their website to see how they want to be contacted. Almost all agencies have a link on their website to a page providing instructions on how to become one of their translators. Some will accept being contacted by email, but nowadays most want you to register your details in a database on their website. As far as I know, you can visit an agency's official website, and use their web contact form to apply or contact them. However I believe that nobody likes unsolicited offers and the response is generally very low (may depend on the language pair though).
Yes, when sending a ProZ email/message there's a "job" option but that would relate to a specific job already arranged or advertised.
