so i'm fairly new to this website, and i'm having trouble understanding the terms used when i'm trying to find jobs.

bear with me, my newbie question may make some of you seasoned pros scoff in disbelief, some may even find it silly but, hey, it's better to ask questions rather than getting lost right?

Welcome to ProZ.com! Jan 18, 2017

Dear nandaryan,

First of all, welcome to ProZ.com and thank you for raising this question.

The act of submitting a quote is what happens when you contact job poster after seeing a job posting you are interested in at http://www.proz.com/translation-jobs/ . Note that you must first meet the requirements set out by the job poster before you are allowed to contact them.

Note that not all job postings accept quotes. Some outsourcers prefer to be contacted directly via email and so their email address is made visible in the "Contact information" section of the job posting (and so the "Submit quote" button is not visible).

Only site members can submit a quote on a job posting. Please see http://www.proz.com/faq/3208#3208 for more information.

By the way, that the main channel to get jobs in ProZ.com are direct searches in the directory. Please see http://www.proz.com/faq/101632#101632 for more information on how to find jobs through the directory.

Hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any question. You can post here on the forums, or contact site staff directly through the Support Center: http://www.proz.com/support/

Best regards,
Alejandro
