... I had to be resilient almost since the day I was born due to special "circumstances". Consequently, being a freelancer now has added no strength to my being, neither physically (lol) nor mentally/emotionally.
But... it keeps me on my toes!

You are resilient, "then" you can manage to be a freelancer. Plus it takes a lot of patience and perseverance.

Translation is definitely a profession where sweat-equity counts. Had been in a different profession, I might not have developed such a conscientious work ethic.
I have often sacrificed sleep to finish a translation, but I don't consider that resilience; it takes a toll on my health, which means that it's stupid.

My life as a freelancer means that I don't have to fall in with people. There is no confrontation, if I don't like the terms I'm offered I simply say no. And I don't have to deal with office politics. If I had to, it might come as a shock to me. I might start worrying myself stupid over things that other people can just take in their stride. Freelancing is the quiet life as far as I'm concerned.

Then I would add: it made me less strong, so I had to find other ways to strengthen myself, to keep in touch with people, to learn how to manage conflicts instead of just avoiding them. The quiet, too quiet, life it is.
