Hello - would appreciate some advice regarding pricing a literary translation, namely a children's book with rhyme translated from English to Arabic.
Many thanks, Gamila

Two or three times the regular, average translation rate per word.

Hourly?
Jul 6, 2017
When I've done these kinds of transcreation tasks, they have typically been paid by the hour, simply because you might be able to translate one rhyme at your normal translation speed, but then need to spend half an hour thinking of an appropriate translation for the second pair, and so on... so it's very hard to guess a reasonable per-word rate with that kind of variation.
