Das Ziel der Neulateinischen Wortliste (NLW) ist die Aufarbeitung von Teilen des Wortbestandes der lateinischen Sprache zwischen 1300 und 1700. Als Neulatein wird hier jenes Stadium der Entwicklung der lateinischen Sprache verstanden, das mit der im Namen der "Renaissance" enthaltenen Rückbesinnung auf das Latein der Antike einsetzt.
