Which plugin do you recommend to translate WordPress websites/themes?

It is a pity, that the plugin Codestyling Localization is no longer being developed. With which other plugin did you have good experiences so far translating a WordPress website, professional themes and plugins?

I don’t want to create a multilingual website but I would like to translate a WordPress website from English into German including all content and the theme with widgets and plugins using a solution that ensures compatibility. Translating with Poedit rework on the .po and .mo file is often necessary.

I have used Polylang for a long time. It has multilanguage switching capability, but you don't have to use that function. I'm not sure if it's exactly what you are looking for.
